Imazol Krémpasta (Clotrimazole)

Clotrimazole is used to treat superficial fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes.

• Tinea corporis (ringworm): reduces fungal growth and clears the skin rash.
• Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot): alleviates itching and eliminates the dermatophyte infection.
• Candidal skin infection: controls yeast proliferation and promotes healing of affected areas.

• Clotrimazole inhibits ergosterol synthesis by blocking the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, a key step in cell membrane formation. This disruption compromises membrane integrity, leading to impaired growth and eventual death of susceptible fungi on the skin surface.

Topical clotrimazole may cause local skin reactions, most of which are mild and reversible.

Common Side Effects

• Burning sensation: mild transient feeling at the application site.
• Itching: occasional pruritus around the treated area.
• Redness: mild erythema at the site of application.
• Dryness: slight skin dryness or flaking.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Allergic dermatitis: severe rash, swelling, or hives requiring medical attention.

• Stevens‑Johnson syndrome: rare severe skin reaction, seek immediate care.
• Angioedema: swelling of deeper skin layers, potentially airway compromising.
