Elidel is a topical immunomodulator used to manage the symptoms of atopic dermatitis (eczema).

• Atopic dermatitis: Reduces inflammation, redness, and itching associated with mild to moderate eczema.
• Skin inflammation: Helps manage flare-ups and prevent the progression of eczema symptoms.
• Non-steroidal treatment: Provides an alternative to corticosteroid treatments for eczema management.

• Elidel works by inhibiting the activation of T-cells and the release of cytokines through its active ingredient, pimecrolimus. Pimecrolimus binds to macrophilin-12 and inhibits calcineurin, which suppresses the immune response in the skin, reducing inflammation and the symptoms of atopic dermatitis.

Elidel may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include mild skin irritation, while serious or rare side effects are less frequent but more severe.
