Elocom (Mometasone Furoate)

Elocom is indicated for the topical treatment of various inflammatory and pruritic skin disorders, and it may be prescribed when a medium‑to high‑potency corticosteroid is appropriate.

• Mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema) affecting limited skin areas.
• Plaque psoriasis lesions where a potent corticosteroid is required.

Serious

• Skin atrophy or thinning with prolonged use, increasing injury risk.
• Development of striae (stretch marks), especially in flexural areas.
• Hypersensitivity reactions such as contact dermatitis, with intense itching and swelling.
• Rare systemic adrenal suppression, presenting as fatigue or low blood pressure.

When using Elocom, several precautions should be observed to minimize risks and ensure safe therapy.

• Apply only to intact skin; avoid broken or infected areas.
• Limit use to the prescribed body surface area and duration.
• Do not use on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed.
• Avoid occlusive dressings unless specifically recommended.
