Glimbax (Prulifloxacin)

Glimbax is indicated for the treatment of a range of bacterial infections that are susceptible to prulifloxacin, as determined by culture and sensitivity testing. Selection of therapy should be based on local resistance patterns and patient-specific factors.

• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by susceptible Gram‑negative organisms.
• Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and community‑acquired pneumonia.
• Skin and soft‑tissue infections such as cellulitis and wound infections.
• Gastrointestinal infections including travel‑related diarrhoea caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Other infections where a fluoroquinolone is appropriate, as judged by a clinician.

Like other fluoroquinolones, Glimbax may cause a range of adverse effects, most of which are mild and reversible, while some can be serious and require immediate medical attention.

Common

• Nausea, vomiting, or abdominal discomfort.
• Diarrhoea or loose stools.
• Headache or dizziness.
• Skin rash or mild itching.

Serious

• Tendon inflammation or rupture, especially in the Achilles tendon.
• Severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis or angio‑edema.
• Central nervous system effects including seizures or psychosis.

• History of tendon disorders or recent corticosteroid therapy.
