Common

• Mild hyperglycemia that resolves after infusion adjustment.
• Local irritation or pain at the injection site.
• Nausea or vomiting.
• Headache.
• Electrolyte shifts such as mild hyponatremia.
• Transient increase in serum osmolality.
• Mild metabolic acidosis.

Serious

• Severe hyperglycemia leading to osmotic diuresis.
• Fluid overload causing pulmonary edema.
• Hypotension from rapid infusion.
• Allergic reactions including rash, itching, or anaphylaxis.
• Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state in susceptible patients.
• Seizures related to rapid glucose shifts.

Glucosada should be used with caution, and several precautions are recommended to minimize risks and ensure safe administration.

• Verify patient identity and indication before preparation.
• Assess blood glucose level prior to infusion and monitor during therapy.
• Adjust infusion rate according to individual fluid and electrolyte needs.
• Use aseptic technique to prevent contamination of the solution.
