Common

• Transient increase in blood glucose level.
• Mild hyperosmolarity causing temporary thirst.
• Local irritation at the injection site.
• Nausea or mild abdominal discomfort.
• Headache or dizziness.
• Temporary rise in serum osmolality.
• Mild flushing.
• Transient increase in urine output.

Serious

• Severe hyperglycemia leading to osmotic diuresis.
• Electrolyte imbalance, particularly hyponatremia or hyperkalemia.
• Hypersensitivity reactions such as rash, urticaria, or anaphylaxis.
• Cardiovascular instability such as hypotension or arrhythmia.
• Metabolic acidosis in patients with impaired renal function.

Glucose Vantive should be used with careful clinical assessment, and several precautions are recommended to minimize risks.

• Verify patient’s blood glucose level before administration to avoid excessive hyperglycemia.
• Adjust infusion rate based on individual fluid and electrolyte needs.
• Monitor serum electrolytes, especially sodium and potassium, during and after therapy.
