Glucosio Monico delivers glucose directly into the bloodstream via intravenous infusion, providing an immediate rise in plasma glucose, whereas oral tablets must be absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, which can be slower and is not suitable for patients unable to take oral medication.

Blood glucose levels, serum electrolytes (especially sodium and potassium), and fluid balance should be monitored regularly. Vital signs and signs of fluid overload are also assessed throughout the infusion.

Use in neonates and infants is possible but requires careful dosing and slower infusion rates to avoid metabolic disturbances. Pediatric administration should be guided by a pediatric specialist.

Symptoms may include rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis. Any suspected allergic reaction should be reported immediately and managed according to standard emergency protocols.

The solution should be stored at controlled room temperature, protected from light, and kept in its original container until the time of administration. Do not use if the solution appears discolored or contains particles.

Compatibility depends on the specific solution and concentration. Generally, it can be administered sequentially with most IV fluids, but simultaneous mixing should be verified with compatibility data or pharmacy guidance.

Fluid overload risk is minimized by assessing the patient’s cardiac and renal status, calculating total fluid input, using appropriate infusion rates, and monitoring for signs of pulmonary edema or increased weight.
