Gyno-Pevaryl (Econazole Nitrate)

Gyno-Pevaryl is indicated for the topical treatment of vaginal candidiasis and may be used for other superficial fungal infections of the vaginal area.

• Adjunct therapy for recurrent vaginal candidiasis when prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Reported adverse reactions to Gyno-Pevaryl are generally mild and limited to the application site, although rare serious events have been described.

Common

• Mild irritation or burning sensation at the site of application, usually temporary.
• Itching or pruritus of the vaginal mucosa that may increase after initial use.
• Transient redness or erythema of the surrounding skin, often resolving without treatment.
• Unpleasant vaginal discharge unrelated to infection, which typically clears within a few days.
• Dryness or discomfort of the vaginal walls, sometimes accompanied by a feeling of tightness.
• Mild abdominal cramping or lower pelvic discomfort during the first 24‑48 hours.

Serious

• Allergic contact dermatitis presenting with swelling, rash, or hives.
• Severe hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema or anaphylaxis (very rare).

When using Gyno-Pevaryl, certain precautions should be observed to ensure safety and effectiveness.

• Confirm the diagnosis of a fungal infection before initiating therapy.
