Hevronaz (Mupirocin)

Hevronaz is indicated for the topical treatment of several superficial bacterial skin infections, particularly those caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.

• Impetigo (non‑bullous and bullous forms)
• Secondary bacterial infections of minor cuts, abrasions or burns
• Folliculitis
• Small localized infections caused by susceptible Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes
• Post‑operative wound infections when limited to skin surface

These indications are based on clinical evidence of mupirocin’s efficacy in eradicating the causative bacteria.

• Mupirocin, the active component of Hevronaz, selectively inhibits bacterial isoleucyl‑tRNA synthetase, an enzyme essential for attaching isoleucine to its corresponding tRNA during protein synthesis. By blocking this step, the drug prevents the formation of functional bacterial proteins, leading to a bacteriostatic effect at low concentrations and bactericidal activity at higher concentrations against susceptible Gram‑positive organisms, including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.

Topical application of Hevronaz may cause local skin reactions, most of which are mild and transient. While most patients experience only mild irritation, clinicians should be aware of rarer but more severe cutaneous responses that may require discontinuation.

Common

• Mild burning or stinging at the application site
• Itching or mild erythema
• Dryness or peeling of the treated skin

Serious

• Severe allergic dermatitis with extensive redness, swelling, or blistering
• Contact urticaria or angio‑edema
• Secondary infection of the treated area
• Persistent pain or necrosis at the site

If any of these reactions develop, the medication should be stopped and medical advice sought promptly. Patients are advised to report persistent or worsening symptoms to their healthcare provider.
