Hexaspray (Biclotymol)

Hexaspray is indicated for the symptomatic relief of several common oral and pharyngeal conditions.

• Biclotymol exerts a non‑specific antimicrobial effect by interacting with microbial cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and disruption of essential cellular processes. This action reduces bacterial colonisation on the oromucosal surfaces, providing a topical antiseptic effect without targeting a specific pathogen or receptor pathway.

Adverse reactions to Hexaspray are generally mild, but occasional more serious events have been reported.

Common

• Transient burning or stinging sensation in the mouth.
• Mild taste alteration.
• Temporary dryness of oral mucosa.
• Minor irritation of the throat.

Serious

• Allergic contact dermatitis of the oral mucosa.
• Angioedema involving the lips or tongue.
• Severe hypersensitivity reaction such as anaphylaxis.
• Persistent ulceration of the mucosa.
