• Biclotymol exerts its antiseptic effect primarily by disrupting the integrity of microbial cell membranes. The compound integrates into lipid bilayers, increasing permeability and leading to leakage of intracellular contents. This loss of membrane stability impairs essential metabolic processes, resulting in rapid bacterial and fungal cell death. The action is broad‑spectrum, affecting Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria as well as certain yeasts, without relying on specific receptor binding.
