• Hexetidine exerts its antiseptic effect by integrating into microbial cell membranes, disrupting lipid bilayer integrity and increasing permeability. This leads to leakage of intracellular contents and inhibition of essential metabolic enzymes. The resulting impairment of bacterial and fungal energy production reduces replication and promotes cell death, providing broad‑spectrum activity against Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria as well as yeasts.
