Hexi Prep (Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Isopropyl Alcohol)

Hexi Prep is indicated for external use on intact or partially compromised skin where antisepsis is required.

• Skin antisepsis before venipuncture, catheter insertion, or minor procedures.

• Chlorhexidine gluconate disrupts microbial cell membranes by binding to phospholipids and precipitating intracellular contents, leading to loss of membrane integrity and cell death. The accompanying isopropyl alcohol rapidly denatures proteins and extracts lipids, providing immediate bactericidal activity. Together, the agents produce a synergistic effect that yields broad‑spectrum antisepsis against Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria, yeasts, and enveloped viruses and other opportunistic pathogens.

Topical application of Hexi Prep may be associated with local skin reactions, although most users experience only mild and transient effects.

Common

• Mild skin irritation or localized erythema at the application site.
• Transient burning or stinging sensation that resolves within minutes.
• Dryness or peeling of the treated skin area.
• Minor itching without spreading.

Serious

• Allergic contact dermatitis presenting as a vesicular or eczematous rash.
• Severe skin necrosis or ulceration at the site of prolonged contact.

Avoid
