Hexomedine Oplossing is indicated for external use as an antiseptic in several clinical situations.

• Hexamidine diisetionate exerts its antiseptic effect by interacting with bacterial cell membranes. The cationic molecule inserts into the lipid bilayer, disrupting membrane integrity and causing leakage of intracellular contents. This loss of membrane potential leads to rapid bacterial cell death. The compound displays activity against a broad range of Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative organisms, making it effective for topical skin decontamination.

Adverse reactions to Hexomedine Oplossing are generally mild and reversible, but occasional more serious events have been reported, especially with prolonged or extensive use.
