Hexomedine Transdermal (Hexamidine Diisetionate)

Hexomedine Transdermal is indicated for external skin antisepsis in several routine situations.

• Hexamidine diisetionate, a bisbiguanide antiseptic, exerts its effect by interacting with bacterial cell membranes. The compound inserts into the lipid bilayer, disrupting membrane integrity and increasing permeability. This loss of membrane function leads to leakage of intracellular contents, inhibition of essential metabolic processes, and ultimately bacterial cell death. Its activity is broad‑spectrum but is most potent against Gram‑positive organisms.

Adverse reactions to Hexomedine Transdermal are generally limited to local skin responses.

Common

• Mild erythema or redness at the application site.

Serious

• Allergic contact dermatitis with vesicular rash.
