Hexoral (Hexetidine)

• Hexetidine acts as a membrane‑active antiseptic. It inserts into microbial cell membranes, disrupting lipid bilayer integrity and increasing permeability. This leads to leakage of intracellular contents and inhibition of essential enzymatic processes, ultimately preventing bacterial and fungal replication. The broad‑spectrum activity is attributed to its ability to affect both Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative organisms as well as yeasts. The disruption also interferes with microbial adhesion to oral mucosal surfaces, enhancing its antiseptic effect.

Oral use of Hexoral may be associated with local adverse reactions, most of which are mild, transient, and resolve without intervention.

• Severe irritation leading to difficulty swallowing.
• Severe hypersensitivity reaction with rash beyond the oral cavity.
• Persistent swelling of the face.

When using Hexoral, certain precautions help minimize risk and ensure safe application.

• Do not swallow the product; rinse and expectorate after use.
• Limit exposure to the recommended contact time, typically 30 seconds to 1 minute.
• Avoid use in children under six years of age unless directed by a healthcare professional.
• Discontinue use if persistent irritation, burning, or allergic signs develop.
• Store the solution at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
• Consult a dentist or physician before use if you have chronic oral lesions or a compromised immune system.

Avoid
