• Hexetidine exerts its antiseptic effect by interacting with the lipid components of microbial cell membranes. This membrane‑active action disrupts membrane integrity, leading to leakage of intracellular contents and loss of essential metabolic functions. The resulting inhibition of bacterial and fungal replication reduces colonisation of the oral mucosa, thereby limiting infection and inflammation. It also interferes with enzyme systems involved in cell wall synthesis, enhancing its broad‑spectrum activity.

Adverse reactions to Hextril Menthe are generally mild, but occasional serious events have been reported.

Common

• Transient metallic or bitter taste in the mouth.
• Mild oral irritation or burning sensation.
