Hibidil is indicated for several external antiseptic applications where reduction of bacterial, fungal, or viral load is desired.

• Chlorhexidine gluconate, the active component of Hibidil, exerts its antiseptic effect by binding to negatively charged bacterial cell walls and disrupting membrane integrity. This interaction leads to leakage of intracellular contents and loss of essential ions, resulting in rapid cell death. At higher concentrations, it also precipitates cytoplasmic proteins, providing broad‑spectrum activity against Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria, yeasts, and enveloped viruses.

Adverse reactions to Hibidil are generally limited to local skin responses, although rare systemic effects have been reported.
