Hibiwash (Chlorhexidine Digluconate Solution)

Hibiwash is used as a topical antiseptic for a range of external applications where reduction of bacterial, fungal, and viral contamination is desired.

• Chlorhexidine digluconate exerts its antiseptic action by binding to negatively charged bacterial cell walls and disrupting membrane integrity. At low concentrations it causes leakage of intracellular components, while at higher concentrations it precipitates cytoplasmic proteins, leading to cell death. The compound also interferes with fungal cell membranes and exhibits activity against enveloped viruses, providing broad‑spectrum antimicrobial coverage. Its cationic nature enables strong adherence to skin, prolonging antimicrobial effect.

Topical application of chlorhexidine may be associated with local reactions, most of which are mild and reversible.

Common

Avoid
