Hidrasec Baby is indicated for the symptomatic relief of acute diarrhea in infants and young children.

• Racecadotril exerts its antidiarrheal effect by inhibiting the enzyme intestinal enkephalinase (also known as neutral endopeptidase). This inhibition raises the local concentration of endogenous enkephalins, which bind to opioid receptors in the gut wall. Activation of these receptors reduces cyclic AMP‑mediated chloride secretion and limits water efflux into the intestinal lumen, thereby decreasing stool output without affecting intestinal motility significantly.

Adverse reactions reported with Hidrasec Baby are generally mild and reversible, but clinicians should be aware of both common and rare serious events that may require medical attention.

Common

• Severe diarrhea worsening despite treatment.
