• Calcifediol, the active ingredient in Hidroferol, is the 25‑hydroxy form of vitamin D3 that circulates in plasma. After oral absorption, it binds to vitamin D‑binding protein and is taken up by target cells, where it is further hydroxylated to calcitriol, the hormonally active form. Calcitriol interacts with nuclear vitamin D receptors, modulating gene transcription that enhances intestinal calcium and phosphate absorption and promotes bone mineralization.
