Hidrosun (Calcifediol Monohydrate)

• Calcifediol monohydrate is the 25‑hydroxy form of vitamin D3. After oral absorption, it circulates bound to vitamin‑D‑binding protein and is converted by 1α‑hydroxylase in the kidney to calcitriol, the hormonally active form. Calcitriol binds to the vitamin D receptor (VDR) in target cells, regulating gene transcription that increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and modulates bone remodeling. The rise in serum 25‑hydroxyvitamin D levels provides a more immediate correction of deficiency compared with native vitamin D3.

Adverse reactions to Hidrosun are generally uncommon but may occur; they are categorized by frequency and severity.

Common

• Mild gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, abdominal bloating, or constipation.
• Transient headache or dizziness.
• Slight increase in serum calcium that does not produce symptoms.
• Dry mouth or mild metallic taste.

Serious

• Hypercalcemia presenting with nausea, vomiting, polyuria, or cardiac arrhythmia.

• Allergic reactions including rash, pruritus, or angioedema.
• Kidney stone formation due to sustained elevated calcium levels.
• Acute pancreatitis associated with high calcium.

• Patients with a history of hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, or sarcoidosis should avoid routine supplementation.

• Concomitant use of high‑dose calcium supplements may increase the risk of elevated serum calcium.

Avoid
