• Amlodipine, the active component of Hipres, selectively inhibits the influx of calcium ions through L‑type voltage‑gated calcium channels located in vascular smooth muscle and cardiac myocytes. By reducing intracellular calcium, it promotes relaxation of arterial smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance. The resulting lower systemic blood pressure also diminishes myocardial oxygen demand, which contributes to angina relief.
