Hirudoid Forte (Chondroitin Polysulfate)

Hirudoid Forte is indicated for the topical management of several superficial vascular and traumatic conditions.

• Bruising (ecchymoses) that develop after minor blunt trauma, such as bumps or falls.
• Superficial thrombophlebitis affecting small veins, characterized by redness, tenderness, and a palpable cord.
• Hematoma formation in the subcutaneous tissue following impact injuries, leading to localized swelling and discoloration.
• Contusions with associated edema and pain, typically occurring after sports injuries or accidental impacts.
• Post‑procedural bruising after minor surgical, dermatologic, or cosmetic procedures, where capillary damage is expected.

• When applied to the skin, chondroitin polysulfate penetrates the superficial dermal layers and exerts heparinoid activity. It inhibits several coagulation factors, reducing fibrin formation, and interferes with leukocyte adhesion to the endothelium. These actions diminish local inflammation and microvascular thrombosis, while improving capillary blood flow and promoting resorption of extravasated blood, thereby accelerating the resolution of bruises and superficial thrombophlebitis.

Topical chondroitin polysulfate may occasionally cause local skin reactions, although many users generally experience no significant adverse events.
