Hirudoid Forte (Glycosaminoglycan Polysulfate)

Hirudoid Forte is indicated for several superficial vascular and inflammatory conditions where topical therapy is appropriate.

• Superficial thrombophlebitis of small veins
• Bruising, hematoma, and post‑traumatic swelling
• Edema associated with venous stasis or chronic venous insufficiency
• Symptomatic relief of varicose veins and related discomfort
• Localized inflammation following minor injuries or surgical procedures

• Glycosaminoglycan polysulfate acts as a heparinoid that interferes with the coagulation cascade by inhibiting thrombin formation and reducing platelet aggregation. It also enhances fibrinolysis, leading to improved breakdown of fibrin clots, and decreases vascular permeability, which together reduce local inflammation and support microcirculatory flow in the treated area.

Adverse reactions to Hirudoid Forte are generally limited to the application site and may vary in frequency.

Common

• Mild skin irritation or erythema at the site of application
• Pruritus or itching
• Transient burning or stinging sensation
• Dryness or peeling of the treated skin

Serious

• Allergic contact dermatitis with vesiculation
• Severe urticaria or angio‑edema
• Localized necrosis (rare)
• Systemic hypersensitivity reactions (extremely rare)

When using Hirudoid Forte, consider the following safety measures:

• Avoid application on broken, infected, or ulcerated skin.
• Do not use on mucous membranes or near the eyes.
• Discontinue use if a rash, severe irritation, or allergic reaction develops.
• Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult a healthcare professional before use, as safety data are limited.
• Keep the product out of reach of children and store at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
• If using concomitantly with other topical agents, apply them at separate times to reduce irritation risk.

Topical glycosaminoglycan polysulfate may interact with other agents applied to the same area.
