Hirudoid Forte is indicated for several superficial vascular and inflammatory skin conditions where improved microcirculation and reduced swelling are desired. The formulation is applied externally to the affected area and is commonly used in clinical practice for managing minor vascular disorders and trauma‑related skin changes.

• Mucopolysaccharide polysulfuric acid ester is a heparinoid that mimics the activity of heparin when applied to the skin. It binds to antithrombin III and other coagulation proteins, reducing thrombin generation and fibrin formation locally. The compound also interferes with inflammatory mediators such as histamine and prostaglandins, leading to decreased vascular permeability and edema. By improving microvascular blood flow, it facilitates the resorption of haematomas and oedematous fluid.

Topical application of Hirudoid Forte may be associated with local skin reactions and, rarely, systemic effects that warrant monitoring.

Serious

• Allergic contact dermatitis with vesiculation
• Extensive bruising or hematoma expansion unrelated to trauma
• Systemic anticoagulant effect leading to abnormal bleeding
• Severe skin necrosis (very rare)
• Unexplained systemic bruising or hemorrhage

When using Hirudoid Forte, certain precautions should be observed to minimize the risk of adverse reactions and ensure safe application.
