Hirudoid Forte (Mucopolysaccharide Polysulfuric Acid Ester)

Hirudoid Forte is indicated for several dermatological and vascular conditions where reduction of swelling and inflammation is desired.

• Topically applied mucopolysaccharide polysulfuric acid ester acts as a heparinoid that binds to endothelial cells and plasma proteins, enhancing fibrinolytic activity and inhibiting platelet aggregation. The compound increases the release of tissue plasminogen activator, promotes degradation of fibrin, and reduces the synthesis of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and cytokines, thereby improving local microcirculation, contributing to stabilization of capillary permeability, and decreasing edema.

Adverse reactions to Hirudoid Forte are generally mild and limited to the application site, but rare serious events have been reported.
