Hirudoid (Glycosaminoglycan Polysulfate)

• Glycosaminoglycan polysulfate is a heparinoid that binds to plasma proteins and endothelial surfaces, inhibiting thrombin and factor Xa activity locally. By reducing fibrin formation, it limits microvascular clotting and improves capillary blood flow. The compound also interferes with leukocyte adhesion and release of inflammatory mediators, which diminishes edema and erythema. These actions together enhance microcirculation in the skin and promote resorption of extravasated blood.

Topical application of Hirudoid may cause skin reactions, most of which are mild and reversible.

Common
