Holactiv is indicated for the topical management of mild to moderate musculoskeletal pain and inflammation. It is commonly employed in conditions where systemic NSAID exposure is not required.

• Diclofenac sodium exerts its anti‑inflammatory and analgesic effects by reversibly inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, primarily COX‑2 and to a lesser extent COX‑1. This inhibition reduces the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation, pain, and fever. By decreasing local prostaglandin synthesis in the skin and underlying tissues, topical diclofenac limits the inflammatory response at the site of application.

Topical diclofenac may cause local or systemic adverse reactions, although many users experience no problems.

• Severe photosensitivity with blistering on sun‑exposed areas.
