Homepen (Meropenem Anhydrous)

Homepen is indicated for the treatment of severe infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is typically reserved for situations where other antibiotics may be ineffective.

• Meropenem, the active component of Homepen, exerts its antibacterial effect by binding to penicillin‑binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell wall. This binding inhibits the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis, weakening the cell wall and leading to osmotic lysis and bacterial death. The broad spectrum of activity includes many Gram‑negative, Gram‑positive, and anaerobic organisms, making it a potent carbapenem antibiotic.

Common

• Diarrhea, including mild Clostridioides difficile‑associated colitis
