• Phenylephrine hydrochloride acts as an alpha‑1 adrenergic agonist, causing vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosal vessels and decreasing swelling, which eases nasal airflow. Guaifenesin works as an expectorant by increasing the volume and reducing the viscosity of bronchial secretions, facilitating mucus clearance. Paracetamol provides analgesic and antipyretic effects through central inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes and modulation of the endocannabinoid system, lowering pain perception and body temperature.

Like many combination cold‑and‑flu products, Hotex may cause unwanted effects, most of which are mild and transient.

• Do not exceed the recommended daily dose; overdose can increase risk of liver toxicity from paracetamol.
• Avoid use in individuals with severe hypertension or coronary artery disease due to phenylephrine’s vasoconstrictive effect.

• Consult a healthcare professional before taking Hotex if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have liver or kidney impairment.

Avoid

Use with caution

• Anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents, as paracetamol may enhance bleeding risk.
• Antihypertensive drugs, because phenylephrine may reduce their effectiveness.
• Certain antidepressants (e.g., SSRIs) that can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome when combined with phenylephrine.
