Huehneraugen Lebewohl Pflaster is indicated for the self‑managed treatment of several hyperkeratotic skin conditions.

• Wart removal on hands, feet or other body sites.
• Softening and gradual reduction of calluses.
• Treatment of corns that cause discomfort.
• Management of other thickened skin lesions such as verrucae or keratotic plaques.

• Both lactic acid and salicylic acid act as keratolytic agents. Lactic acid lowers the pH of the stratum corneum, weakening intercellular bonds, while salicylic acid dissolves keratin by disrupting desmosomal connections. The combined effect loosens corneocyte cohesion, facilitating exfoliation of hyperkeratotic tissue and allowing the lesion to be removed more easily. This process also promotes turnover of the epidermal layer, helping to restore a smoother skin surface over time.

Topical application of the plaster may cause local skin reactions; most are mild and reversible, while rare events can be more concerning.

Common

• Mild erythema or redness that usually resolves within a few hours.
• Slight itching, tingling, or burning sensation at the patch site.
• Localized dryness or peeling of the skin as the keratolytic effect progresses.
• Temporary lightening or darkening of the skin that normalizes after treatment.

Serious

• Allergic contact dermatitis characterized by swelling, vesicle formation, or intense itching.
• Severe irritation that may lead to ulceration or breakdown of the epidermis.
• Persistent hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation after patch removal.
• Rare systemic symptoms such as headache or dizziness, indicating possible absorption.
