Humex Conjonctivite Allergique (Sodium Cromoglicate)

Humex Conjonctivite Allergique is indicated for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis, a condition characterized by ocular itching, redness, and watery discharge.

• Relief of ocular itching caused by seasonal or perennial allergens such as pollen, dust mites, or animal dander.
• Reduction of conjunctival redness and swelling associated with allergic inflammation.
• Decrease in tear production and watery discharge that accompany allergic episodes.
• Management of mild to moderate allergic eye symptoms when antihistamine eye drops alone are insufficient.
• Adjunctive therapy for patients with a history of mast‑cell mediated ocular reactions, supporting other antiallergic measures.

• Sodium cromoglicate stabilizes mast cells by inhibiting calcium‑dependent degranulation, which prevents the release of histamine, leukotrienes, and other inflammatory mediators from ocular mast cells. By limiting these mediators, the drug reduces the cascade that leads to vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, and sensory nerve activation in the conjunctiva, thereby mitigating the allergic response at the site of application, effectively and safely.

Adverse ocular reactions reported with sodium cromoglicate eye drops are generally mild, but rare serious events have been described.

Common

• Transient stinging or burning sensation upon instillation, usually lasting seconds to a minute.
• Temporary blurred vision that resolves within a few minutes without intervention.
• Mild conjunctival hyperemia (redness) that is not related to the underlying allergy.
• Slight increase in tear production immediately after dosing, which normalizes quickly.
• Mild eyelid swelling without systemic involvement, typically resolving spontaneously.

Serious

• Persistent ocular irritation or pain lasting more than 24 hours and not improving with standard measures.
• Signs of allergic contact dermatitis affecting the eyelids or peri‑ocular skin, such as redness, itching, or rash.
