Humulin N (Nph) Kwikpen is indicated for use in adults and children with diabetes who require basal insulin coverage.

• Type 1 diabetes mellitus requiring basal insulin.

• Humulin N contains recombinant human insulin that binds to insulin receptors on muscle, adipose and hepatic cells. Receptor activation triggers autophosphorylation and downstream signaling through the PI3‑kinase/Akt pathway, promoting translocation of GLUT‑4 transporters to the cell surface and enhancing glucose uptake. In the liver, it suppresses gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis, leading to a gradual reduction in circulating glucose over 12–18 hours.

Common

• Hypoglycemia, especially if meals are missed or delayed.
