• Irbesartan selectively blocks AT1 receptors, preventing angiotensin II‑mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits NaCl reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, increasing urinary sodium and water excretion, which together lower peripheral resistance and plasma volume, resulting in reduced arterial pressure.
