Hydrocortison-17-Butyrat is indicated for the topical management of several inflammatory dermatoses where reduction of redness, swelling, and itching is desired.

• Eczema (atopic dermatitis) affecting mild to moderate areas
• Contact dermatitis caused by irritants or allergens
• Plaque psoriasis with localized lesions
• Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp or face
• Chronic or acute allergic skin reactions

• Hydrocortisone butyrate penetrates the epidermis and binds to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors. The receptor‑ligand complex translocates to the nucleus, where it interacts with glucocorticoid response elements and modulates transcription of multiple genes. This results in decreased synthesis of pro‑inflammatory cytokines, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes, and suppresses the activity of immune cells such as T‑lymphocytes and macrophages, thereby reducing inflammation and immune responses in the skin.

Topical application of hydrocortisone butyrate can be associated with local and, rarely, systemic adverse reactions.

Common

• Mild burning or stinging at the application site

Serious

• Thinning of the skin (atrophy) with possible stretch marks
• Appearance of visible blood vessels (telangiectasia) or striae
