• Hydrocortisone acetate penetrates the epidermis and is converted to active hydrocortisone, which binds to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors. The receptor‑ligand complex translocates to the nucleus and modulates gene transcription, suppressing the expression of pro‑inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and enzymes such as phospholipase A2. This results in reduced synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, thereby decreasing inflammation and immune cell activation in the skin.
