Ib-U-Ron (Ibuprofen)

Ib-U-Ron (ibuprofen) is an NSAID that reduces inflammation and pain in several common conditions.

• Fever: lowers elevated body temperature through prostaglandin inhibition.

• Ibuprofen exerts its effect by non‑selectively inhibiting cyclo‑oxygenase enzymes COX‑1 and COX‑2. This blockade reduces the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation, pain, and fever. The decreased prostaglandin synthesis leads to diminished peripheral sensitisation of nociceptors and a lowered hypothalamic temperature set‑point, providing analgesic, antipyretic and anti‑inflammatory actions.
