Ibenal Forte (Ibuprofen)

• Ibuprofen acts systemically to control inflammation‑mediated conditions and associated symptoms.
• Pain: provides analgesia for mild to moderate musculoskeletal, dental and postoperative pain.
• Fever: lowers elevated body temperature in febrile states.
• Inflammation: reduces swelling and stiffness in conditions such as arthritis and soft‑tissue injuries.

• Ibuprofen non‑selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase‑1 (COX‑1) and cyclooxygenase‑2 (COX‑2) enzymes, leading to decreased conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. The reduced prostaglandin synthesis diminishes peripheral sensitisation of nociceptors, lowers the hypothalamic set‑point for temperature, and limits inflammatory exudate formation.

Adverse reactions may range from mild to severe and should be monitored during therapy.

Common Side Effects

• Gastrointestinal discomfort, such as dyspepsia or heartburn.
• Nausea or occasional vomiting.
• Headache or dizziness.

• Elevated blood pressure in susceptible individuals.

• Severe hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis.
• Hepatotoxicity presenting as jaundice or elevated liver enzymes.
• Cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction or stroke.
• Hematologic abnormalities like thrombocytopenia.

• Assess gastrointestinal risk: evaluate history of ulcers or bleeding.
• Monitor renal function: especially in patients with chronic kidney disease or dehydration.
