• Bilastine is a selective peripheral H1‑receptor antagonist that binds competitively to histamine H1 receptors on conjunctival mast cells and sensory nerves. By blocking histamine binding, it prevents the cascade of inflammatory mediators that cause vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, and nerve stimulation, thereby reducing ocular itching, redness and swelling without significant central nervous system penetration.

Bilastine ocular solution may cause adverse reactions, most of which are mild and transient.
