Iblasin (Ibuprofen)

Ibuprofen acts systemically to control pain, fever and inflammation in several common clinical situations.

• Mild to moderate pain: provides analgesic relief for headaches, dental pain, musculoskeletal aches and minor injuries.
• Fever: lowers elevated body temperature associated with infections or other febrile states.
• Arthritis and other inflammatory conditions: reduces joint swelling, stiffness and improves functional mobility.

• Ibuprofen non‑selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase‑1 (COX‑1) and cyclooxygenase‑2 (COX‑2) enzymes, decreasing the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. The reduced prostaglandin synthesis diminishes peripheral sensitisation of nociceptors, lowers the hypothalamic set‑point for temperature, and limits inflammatory exudate formation, resulting in analgesic, antipyretic and anti‑inflammatory effects.

Adverse reactions may range from mild and transient to serious and life‑threatening.

Common Side Effects

• Gastrointestinal discomfort: nausea, dyspepsia or abdominal pain.
• Headache: mild to moderate intensity.
• Dizziness or vertigo.
• Rash or mild skin irritation.
• Elevated blood pressure in susceptible individuals.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration or perforation.
• Acute renal failure or worsening of chronic kidney disease.
• Severe hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis.
• Stevens‑Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.
• Hepatotoxicity with marked liver enzyme elevation.

Before using Iblasin, consider the following safety measures.

• Assess gastrointestinal risk: avoid in patients with active ulcer disease or a history of serious GI bleeding.
• Evaluate renal function: use caution in individuals with impaired kidney function or dehydration.
• Monitor cardiovascular status: NSAIDs may increase blood pressure and cardiovascular events.
• Review concomitant medications: avoid simultaneous use with other NSAIDs, anticoagulants or corticosteroids without medical guidance.
• Store at room temperature: keep in the original packaging, protect from moisture and heat.

Major Interactions (Avoid)

• Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin): heightened risk of bleeding.
• Other NSAIDs or aspirin: additive gastrointestinal toxicity.
• Corticosteroids: increased chance of ulceration.
• Lithium: ibuprofen may raise serum lithium levels.
• Methotrexate: reduced clearance leading to toxicity.

Moderate Interactions (Monitor Closely)

• ACE inhibitors or ARBs: possible reduction in antihypertensive effect and renal function.
• Diuretics: may impair renal perfusion.
• Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs): modest increase in bleeding risk.
• Beta‑blockers: potential attenuation of blood pressure control.
• Antidiabetic agents: ibuprofen may affect glucose control.
