Ibuprofen acts as an analgesic and antipyretic in the pediatric population.

• Fever: Reduces elevated body temperature in children.

• Dental pain: Provides relief from toothache associated with teething or dental procedures.
• Musculoskeletal pain: Eases minor strains, sprains and growing‑pain discomfort.

• Ibuprofen inhibits cyclo‑oxygenase (COX‑1 and COX‑2) enzymes, decreasing the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate inflammation, pain and fever. This reduction in prostaglandin levels leads to diminished peripheral sensitisation and central temperature set‑point modulation, providing analgesic and antipyretic effects.

Adverse reactions may range from mild to severe and should be monitored during therapy.

Common Side Effects

• Gastrointestinal discomfort: nausea, dyspepsia or mild abdominal pain.
