Ibuprofen Alkaloid-Int (Ibuprofen)

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti‑inflammatory drug that reduces prostaglandin‑mediated inflammation and pain.

• Musculoskeletal pain: provides localized relief of aches and soreness in muscles and tendons.
• Minor joint pain: reduces swelling and discomfort in small joints such as fingers or toes.
• Sports injuries: alleviates bruising, strain and mild inflammation after physical activity.
• Post‑traumatic bruising: helps control localized pain and redness following minor trauma.

• Ibuprofen inhibits cyclooxygenase‑1 and cyclooxygenase‑2 enzymes in peripheral tissues, decreasing the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain, inflammation and fever. By limiting prostaglandin production at the site of application, the drug reduces local vascular permeability, edema and nociceptor sensitisation, resulting in analgesic and anti‑inflammatory effects.

Topical ibuprofen can cause skin‑related reactions and, rarely, systemic adverse events.

• Limit application area: restrict use to the recommended surface area to minimise systemic absorption.
