• Ibuprofen inhibits cyclooxygenase‑1 and cyclooxygenase‑2 enzymes, decreasing the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. Reduced prostaglandin synthesis leads to diminished peripheral sensitization, lower fever set‑point in the hypothalamus, and decreased inflammatory exudate formation, resulting in analgesic, antipyretic, and anti‑inflammatory effects.

Adverse reactions may occur with intravenous ibuprofen and should be monitored.
