Ibuprofen acts on the cyclooxygenase pathway to provide analgesic, antipyretic and anti‑inflammatory effects.

• Ibuprofen reversibly inhibits both cyclooxygenase‑1 (COX‑1) and cyclooxygenase‑2 (COX‑2) enzymes, decreasing the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. This reduction in prostaglandin synthesis diminishes inflammation, pain signaling, and fever generation at the peripheral and central nervous system levels.
