Icatibant is employed in the management of hereditary angioedema, a rare genetic disorder characterized by episodic, potentially life‑threatening swelling of the skin, gastrointestinal tract, and upper airway caused by uncontrolled bradykinin activity. By targeting the underlying bradykinin pathway, the drug rapidly reverses edema during an attack.
