Ilinpru (Linagliptin)

Ilinpru, a DPP-4 inhibitor, is used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus and related glycaemic control pathways.

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus: improves glycaemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
• Inadequate control on metformin: provides additional glucose‑lowering effect when metformin alone is insufficient.

• Linagliptin selectively inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase‑4 (DPP‑4), preventing the breakdown of incretin hormones such as GLP‑1 and GIP. Elevated incretin levels enhance glucose‑dependent insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release, leading to lower post‑prandial and fasting plasma glucose concentrations without causing hypoglycaemia when used alone.

• Nasopharyngitis: mild upper respiratory tract infection symptoms.
