Imacillin (Amoxicillin)

Imacillin, a broad‑spectrum penicillin, acts on bacterial infections of the respiratory and urinary tracts as well as skin.

• Otitis media: resolves middle‑ear bacterial infection and reduces pain.
• Sinusitis: clears sinus inflammation caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Community‑acquired pneumonia: treats lung infection and improves breathing.
• Urinary tract infections: eradicates common uropathogens in the bladder and kidneys.
• Skin and soft tissue infections: eliminates bacteria causing cellulitis and wound infection.

• Amoxicillin binds to penicillin‑binding proteins on the bacterial cell wall, inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis. This disruption weakens the wall, leading to osmotic lysis and bacterial death, particularly in actively dividing, gram‑positive and some gram‑negative organisms.

Adverse reactions may occur with any antibiotic and should be monitored.
