Indications & Clinical Uses

Immunine is a recombinant coagulation factor that replaces deficient Factor IX in the intrinsic pathway of blood clotting. It is indicated for:

  • Hemophilia B: provides factor IX replacement to prevent and control bleeding episodes.
  • Factor IX deficiency: restores clotting ability in congenital or acquired deficiency states.
  • Peri‑operative management in Hemophilia B: ensures adequate hemostasis during surgical or invasive procedures.

How It Works

  • Human Coagulation Factor IX supplied by Immunine circulates in the plasma and participates in the intrinsic coagulation cascade. It binds to activated Factor VIII on phospholipid surfaces, forming the tenase complex that activates Factor X to Xa, leading to thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation, thereby correcting the deficiency in patients lacking functional Factor IX.

Side Effects

Immunine may be associated with infusion‑related and immune‑mediated reactions.

Common Side Effects

  • Infusion site erythema or swelling
  • Fever or chills during administration
  • Headache or mild dizziness
  • Nausea or abdominal discomfort

Serious or Rare Side Effects

  • Development of neutralizing inhibitors (antibodies) to Factor IX
  • Thrombotic events such as deep‑vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism
  • Transmission of viral contaminants (theoretical risk)
  • Renal impairment or hemolysis in susceptible patients

Precautions & Warnings
