Indocollyre (Indometacin)

• Indocollyre, an ocular NSAID, is indicated for inflammatory conditions of the eye.
• Post‑operative ocular inflammation: reduces swelling, pain and redness following eye surgery.
• Anterior uveitis: controls intra‑ocular inflammation and alleviates associated discomfort.
• Other inflammatory eye conditions: provides anti‑inflammatory relief in conditions such as iritis or keratitis where NSAID therapy is appropriate.

• Indometacin inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX‑1 and COX‑2) enzymes in ocular tissues, blocking the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. By decreasing prostaglandin synthesis, the drug reduces vascular permeability, leukocyte infiltration and nociceptor activation, leading to diminished inflammation and pain at the site of application. The topical delivery ensures high local concentrations while systemic exposure remains minimal, further limiting systemic adverse effects.

Indocollyre may cause ocular adverse reactions, ranging from mild irritation to rare serious events.
